Almost Summer

I have heard that it takes a month to establish a new habit.  At least that was the advice when I joined a gym some years ago.  Work out faithfully for a month, and it will become habit.  Didn't work for me.
The first item listed in my shop.  I recently reworked some of it, making it thicker, and adding a heart!

My dog loves this rug.  It was a new design for me - chevron.  Maybe I'll keep it.
But this Etsy shop venture certainly has created new routines for me and established some new habits.  Since my shop became "live" approximately four months ago, I have become somewhat addicted to checking my shop stats and looking for new posts on team threads.  I joined a few teams, and some of the other members seem like old friends already.  Yay A4!  Yay Promo Junkies!  Yay Recycle Party, and the other great groups I drop in on from time to time!
Loved the colours in this rug.  It sold quickly and I shipped it to Brooklyn.  That's such a great feeling.

I feel pulled in so many directions:  love vintage, love sewing, love crocheting, want to learn plastic fusing and paper mache techniques.  My shop reflects my varied interests.  Should I keep it that way?  Or should I separate some of these interests into more than one Etsy shop?  For now, I seem to have enough on my hands with promoting one shop. I agonize over every photo and item description that I post, and sabotage my efforts to get two full pages of items listed for my shop.  Ah, but the journey has been fun.

Most fun of all has been custom orders.  I didn't expect that, but I feel honoured that someone likes my work well enough to trust me to create something for them, and to purchase it before it's even completed.  What a great feeling, even if I stress over "will she like it?" while I'm working.
Photographed this on a snowbank, which made a great all-white background.  This rug sold quickly too.

Summer time will mean some time camping and travelling to visit some relatives.  Can't wait to sit by a camp-fire.  Usually I crochet slippers or mittens when we camp.   This summer I will work on little dresses for my granddaughter who was born earlier this month.  :-)  The cycle of life continues, and all is well.
